What is SCRIP?
SCRIP is gift cards from national and local retailers like Kwik Trip, Piggly Wiggly, Kohl’s, etc.  These retailers agree to sell the gift cards to Mount Olive School at a discount.  Mount Olive members buy the gift cards for full face value, redeem them for full face value, and Mount Olive keeps the difference as revenue.  Sixty percent of that revenue is returned to school families and is distributed based on each family’s selection to go to: 

1. Tuition credit for your child/children
2. Hot lunch credit for your child/children
3. Tuition credit for another family’s child/children that you specifically designate
4. Mount Olive’s Tuition Assistance Fund
5. Mount Olive’s General Fund
6. Mount Olive’s Forward in Faith 2 Fund
7. Annual Cash Payout (A check will be issued each June for your earnings in the previous school year.)
   

What percentage of the certificates’ face value is returned to Mount Olive as revenue?
Percentages range from 2-17%.

How will Mount Olive’s portion (40%) of the returned revenue be used?
First, expenses will be paid (e.g. weekly shipping charges, supplies, software expenses, etc.).  Secondly, administration costs will be paid from rebates. Lastly, surplus money will be used for school projects at the discretion of the Board of Education or transferred to support the Tuition Assistance Fund.

Who is eligible to purchase SCRIP?
Anyone may purchase SCRIP after filling out an enrollment form which asks for your contact information and your preferred distribution for your earnings.

How do I purchase SCRIP?
Fill out an order form in the atrium or at the SCRIP office.  Return your form to a SCRIP volunteer during SCRIP office hours or to the SCRIP box located on the wall outside of the school office.

When can I purchase SCRIP?
Orders can be placed with a SCRIP volunteer in the atrium on Sunday mornings, from 9:00 to 9:25 a.m. or at the SCRIP office on Monday and Friday, from 7:40 to 8:10 a.m. or 2:40 – 3:10 p.m.  Orders (along with payment by cash, check or money order only) may also be placed in the box outside the school office anytime.

When can I pick up my SCRIP order?
The majority of SCRIP cards will be available to be picked up at the time the order is placed.  However, some SCRIP may be backordered and will be available for pick up later.  If SCRIP cards are not currently in stock at the Mount Olive SCRIP office, orders are placed each Monday and can typically be filled that same week.

Can I pick up my SCRIP from the school office at other times during the week?
No.  The school staff does not have access to SCRIP cards.  SCRIP will be sold only during open sale hours.

How can I pay for my SCRIP order?
The Mount Olive SCRIP office will accept cash or check.  Payment must accompany the order form.

When will school families receive their tuition credit for their SCRIP earnings?
After June 1, the amount of a person’s SCRIP earnings from the past school year (June 1-May 31) will be calculated and distributed to each family per their enrollment form distribution choice. Confirmation letters will be sent out as well as checks for those choosing the cash option payout.

Can I start earning tuition credits for a child not yet enrolled at Mount Olive school?
Yes.  Your tuition credits will be rolled over each year until your child (or grandchild) begins school. Please notify the volunteer that you are a FUTURE FAMILY so that your account can be designated upon enrollment.

What if I don’t have children enrolled at Mount Olive, can I still participate?
Of course! Everyone can utilize this program.  The benefits of using SCRIP add up quickly and definitely make a difference for our congregation.

If my child does not attend Mount Olive School next year, what happens to my earnings?
You may transfer your credits to another family; designate rebates towards the Tuition Assistance Fund, the General Fund, The Forward in Faith 2 Fund, or receive a cash payout.

What happens if I don’t use all of the value of the card on one purchase?
When you use your SCRIP gift card to make a purchase at a retailer and don’t use the entire value of the card your balance will remain on the card and carry forward until your next purchase.  Most retailers will even write the remaining balance on the card for you. No need to keep receipts. Your balance will be available for your next purchase.

Can I buy SCRIP to purchase my prescriptions?
Yes, we carry Walgreens, Target, and Walmart. These vendors are available in a variety of denominations for your convenience.

Is there a minimum amount of gift cards that I have to order?
There is no minimum order amount.
