Dear Parents and Second Graders,
Thank you to our wonderful parents who showed so much kindness and generosity during this past week, spoiling the teachers! Thank you also to all who helped with Fun and Fitness. It was a wonderful afternoon for the children and we couldn’t do it without you!
On Monday, May 13, someone from FVL will be videotaping the second graders, asking them what they would like to be when they grow up. Only those who have given their consent early in the year to have their pictures published will be included.
This Tuesday afternoon some of the residents of Brewster Village are coming to give us cookies to celebrate Nursing Home Week. We will be giving them some art projects that the children have made.
Our big end-of-the-year field trip will be Tuesday, May 21 at Plamann Park. We will be there all day, weather permitting, enjoying walks, petting farm animals, playing games, and cooking our own lunch. Parents are welcome to come and go as you like, and we would appreciate help with taking picnic supplies and helping with grills. Grades 1-3 will fill the bus, so parents are asked to drive or carpool.
Thursday, May 23 is the last day of school. We end at 11:25 and meet again at 5:45 in the first grade classroom to warm up for our song. Our closing service starts at 6:00 p.m. After the service, the children will come back to the classroom to get their report cards. Report cards cannot be given out early. If you do not attend the closing service, you will have to come back during the summer to pick up the report card in the school office. Thank you for such great singing participation this year!
The school library is now closed, so please bring back any books that are checked out. Lost books have a fine of $10, which is refunded when the book is found and returned.
Next Monday we may have our Grades 1-8 kickball game, so tennis shoes and sunscreen would be good.
