Co-Curriculars
Academic Competitions
Forensics - Grades 5–8
Students compete in demonstration speaking, moments in history, prose reading, poetry reading, speech, solo acting and group play production.  In addition to performing at Mount Olive, students may perform at Fox Valley Lutheran High School and other schools.
 
Math Bowl - Grades 5–8
A math bowl team consists of two 5thand two 6thgrade students, or two 7thand two 8thgrade students, who then compete with other FVL schools at Fox Valley Lutheran High School. All 5th-8th grade students are also involved in the MLC Math Meet, a competition with other WELS schools that is carried on by mail.
 
Geography Bee - Grades 4–8
After competition at Mount Olive, the school champion takes a written test for state qualification.
 
Spelling Bee - Grades 5–8
Students take a written test to compete in the Mount Olive Spelling Bee. Two top students qualify for higher competition with area WELS schools.
 

Choir
Children’s Choir – Grades 3–4
All children of grades 3 & 4 sing in the Children’s Choir.  Practice is held each week during the school day.  The choir sings for services several times during the school year.   
 
Junior Choir – Grades 5-8
Students in grades 5-8 volunteer to sing in the Junior Choir. Two 20-minute rehearsals are held each week during the school day.  The Junior Choir sings for services about once each month.

 
Musicals
Thanksgiving musical - PK-K
 
Fall Musical - Grades K-4
Part of the music curriculum, this musical may include all children in grades K-4. Practices are during the school day.
 
Spring Musical - Grades 5–8
This after-school activity is optional for students in grades 5 through 8.
 
 
Music Lessons
Piano Lessons - Grades 4–8
Students may receive half-hour piano lessons once a week. The cost is borne by the students.
 
Band Lessons - Grades 5–8
Students may receive a band lesson on an instrument of their choosing.  Fox Valley Lutheran High School instructors teach a 15 minute lesson at Mount Olive once a week, and also hold a joint band rehearsal at FVLHS on Saturday mornings. The cost is borne by the students.
